Description
Keep your diesel engine’s exhaust system working efficiently with Wynns Off-Car DPF Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaner (5 L). This powerful cleaning solution is designed for manually restoring heavily blocked DPFs (diesel particulate filters) when regeneration fails. Suitable for diesel and hybrid-diesel vehicles, the formula soaks the filter to dissolve soot and particle deposits — allowing you to flush and reuse the unit rather than replace it. Ideal for workshops or DIYers dealing with DPFs over ~70% soot loading.
Wynns OFF-CAR DPF Car Diesel Engine
- For manual cleaning when the DPF is too heavily blocked and standard regeneration methods fail.
- For heavily blocked DPFs (over 70 percent soot loading).

❓ FAQs
Q1: When should I use this cleaner?
A1: Use this cleaner when your DPF is heavily blocked (approximately 70% or more soot loading) and normal on-vehicle regeneration methods are not resolving the issue.
Because it’s an “off-car” method, you’ll need to remove the DPF from the vehicle before use.
Q2: How do I use it?
A2:
-
Remove the DPF from the vehicle, including sensors.
-
Seal open ends where sensors are removed.
-
Fill the filter unit with the cleaner so the internal surfaces are covered, and allow a soak of around 90-120 minutes. For extreme build-up you may leave it up to 8 hours.
-
After soaking, empty the filter, rinse both sides with warm water until the discharge is clear, then gently dry with low-pressure air.
-
Re-install the filter and connect all sensors.
Q3: What vehicles is it compatible with?
A3: This product is compatible with diesel and hybrid-diesel engines that have a DPF needing off-car cleaning. It is not specific to a single make/model but is intended for any appropriate diesel vehicle where the DPF has been removed for cleaning.
Q4: What are the benefits of using this product?
A4:
-
Allows cleaning of the DPF unit without replacement, potentially saving cost.
-
Helps restore proper airflow and reduce back-pressure in the exhaust system.
-
Helps extend the life of the DPF unit and avoid premature replacement.
-
Ideal for workshop use or serious DIYers dealing with blocked filters.
Q5: What are the limitations or precautions?
A5:
-
The DPF must be removed from the vehicle; this is not an on-car additive you pour into the tank.
-
Heavy soot loading means this is more of a remedial fix, not just a routine additive.
-
After cleaning, correct re-fitting and sensor connections are essential for the exhaust/engine system to function correctly.
-
Ensure the filter is completely dry and clean before re-installing to prevent damage or sensor issues.
-
Always follow manufacturer safety instructions and ensure good ventilation when handling cleaning solvents.
